Keynote pitch to a national conference

Why it works: Leads with what the audience walks away with, not the speaker's résumé. Gives the organizer three ready session titles and proof she can hold a room.

Subject: A keynote for your 2027 members: how to answer the hard question on camera

Hi Ms. Alvarez,

Every year your members face the same moment: a reporter calls with a question they did not see coming. Monica Reyes has spent 18 years preparing executives for exactly that call, and she would like to bring that work to the main stage of the Regional Health Communicators Summit.

Three sessions she can deliver:
1. The First Ten Minutes: what to say before you know all the facts
2. Plain Words Win: turning policy language into a sentence a viewer remembers
3. On Camera in a Crisis: a live drill with volunteers from the audience

Monica led media response for a 12 hospital system through two hurricanes and a cyber attack. Her workshop at last spring's state convention drew a standing room crowd, and organizers asked her back.

She can deliver a 45 minute keynote or a 90 minute workshop, in person or remote. A two minute speaker reel and her one page bio are linked below.

Would a short call next week work to see if she fits your agenda?

• The one question every parent should ask the pharmacist

He speaks in short, calm answers and is available today for a live remote from a lit home studio, or tomorrow in studio. He also does podcast and digital interviews of any length.

HARBORVIEW UNIVERSITY OPENS FREE NURSING PATHWAY FOR FIRST GENERATION STUDENTS
Partnership with Gulf Coast Health will cover tuition for 60 students a year

PORT ELLIS, Texas (Jan. 14, 2027): Harborview University will cover full tuition for 60 first generation nursing students each year through a new partnership with Gulf Coast Health, the region's largest hospital network. The first class begins in August.

The region needs an estimated 900 more nurses by 2030, according to the state workforce board. Students in the program will train in Gulf Coast Health hospitals from their first semester and are guaranteed a job offer at graduation.

"Many of our best students are the first in their family to attend college, and cost is the reason they leave," said Dr. Elena Marsh, president of Harborview University. "This removes that reason."

"We are not waiting for nurses to find us," said Robert Kim, chief nursing officer at Gulf Coast Health. "We are investing in the students who already live here and already care about this community."

Applications open Feb. 1 at harborviewu.example/nursingpath.

STATEMENT FROM HARBORVIEW UNIVERSITY
Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2027, 4:30 p.m.

At about 1:15 p.m. today, a fire broke out in the kitchen of Reed Hall, a student residence. All 212 residents were evacuated. Two students were treated for smoke inhalation and have been released. No one else was hurt.

Our first concern is our students. Every Reed Hall resident has a room for tonight in another residence hall, and counselors are available at the Student Center until 10 p.m.

The Port Ellis Fire Department is investigating the cause. We will not speculate while that work is underway.

Families with questions can call (555) 010 4000, staffed until midnight.

We will share our next update by 9 a.m. Wednesday at harborviewu.example/updates.
